Tibet

Overseas tourists planning on entering Tibet must first obtain a Chinese L-visa (Tourist visa) from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate of their region.

The tourist must then apply for the Tibet Travel Permit at the same Embassy or Consulate. A copy of the Chinese visa and first page of the tourist's passport need to be faxed or emailed to the TTB (Tibet Travel Bureau). Tourists should receive confirmation for travel to Tibet within two to four business days.

The Tibet Travel Permit is usually issued instantly upon receipt of copies of the tourist's passport and visa.
The current report by The Tibet Autonomous Region tells in 2009, 720,237 domestic and foreign tourists visited Tibet between January and May, a figure 1.9 times bigger than that in the same period of 2008. Tibet's tourism has entered a period of rapid development.

Recently, it is getting more and more overseas tourists to go to Tibet. Tibet's culture is visually stunning as its landscape, its Buddhist heritage, and its tradition and history rich.
