Beijing


Beijing is the capital city of China, and it is a world famous city filled with ancient history and culture. With a population of over 15 million, Beijing has a semi humid continental climate. Because of the winter cold and summer heat, the best times to travel to Beijing are during the spring and autumn seasons.

Where Ji (Beijing today) was situated was a strategically advantageous location for development. Beijing is the capital of China, located in the northern part of China. As the capital of China, Beijing stands as the nation's social, economical, political, and cultural center. Since 1949, Beijing officially became the capital of the People's Republic of china. Today, Beijing is the center and home of the greatest repository of historical landmarks and monuments from imperial China.

From the world famous Great Wall of China, Forbidden City Palace, Summer Palace, and Ming Tombs to WangFuJing, Tianmen Square, Beijing's West Railway Station, and China Central Television Tower.

Peking Duck (Beijing Duck) history can be traced back to more than 1,500 years ago; however it has its roots in the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).

Beijing, the busy metropolitan capital city of China, is host to millions of tourists throughout the year. The question, then, is what is the best time to travel to Beijing? Spring in Beijing is marked by temperatures in the 55-60 degree Fahrenheit range; spring is known for being windy and dry in Beijing. Summer is considered peak season in Beijing; the best weather can be found in the summer, but so can the biggest crowds. Fun summer activities include visiting Ling Mountain, which is the best peak in the Beijing area. For spectacular natural splendor, including several waterfalls, visit Refreshing Valley.

Fall in Beijing is another gorgeous time in the Chinese year. There are times when it is not a great idea to visit Beijing. To avoid the jam, do not visit the city during the Chinese Spring Festival, which occurs in early February. If you prefer cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery, visiting in the Autumn is the answer; if you like less crowded attractions and cooler temperatures and don't mind the wind, visit in the spring.
